Kaffe Fassett exhibition

My parents' birthday present to me was a trip to Hasselt (Belgium) to the Kaffe Fassett exhibition in The Fashion Museum.
It was fabulous!
Exhibited were quilts, jumpers, mosaics, embroidered cushions and so much more. I just can't believe how multi-talented this man is!

Since it's late and I have to work early tomorrow, I'll just show you some photos of the quilts I liked best loved.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take really good photos because of the sparse lighting, but you get the idea, don't you?! Look at that explosion of colours!

Zkf12

This one is much more subdued, but I love the simplicity and the pattern. See how he used the stripy fabric to create the pattern as well? Simple, but so effective.

This was one of my absolute favourites. Yellow, pink & orange just are my colours.

Genius. Love everything about this. Must try something like this.

Mum (quilter, knitter & allround crafty girl) and I (just crafty girl) got so inspired on so many levels by just looking at his work. The choice of fabric, colours, patterns... I can't wait to get started!
And I didn't leave empty-handed either. Mum & Dad were sweet enough to contribute this to my stash:)

I'm so happy just to look at it. I do believe it's the prettiest (and most expensive) fabric I've ever had!

Next post I'll show you photos of the other items that were on show.

Beautiful! I especially like the stripey squares.

As far as the double fold binding, you made my day because I thought I was the last person to learn it. :o) You should give it a try - it was a lot less stressful than the ways I've tried in the past. :o)

What a creative and treasured present from your parents! Can't wait to see what you do with your fabrics.

Looks fabulous! You must have been drunk from all that colour!

how wonderful! I wonder if it's coming to England too...

Beautiful.

Those colours are so vibrant and beautiful, just wonderful Wish I'd been able to see it too!

I've met THE MAN in person :) He is such an inspiration! What a wonderful birthday present you got! I'm always drooling over the Kaffe fabrics in the fabric store, but the price is not good for my wallet.

All I can say is "WOW"!

That all looks so beautiful! I want to go to that exhibition. Maybe I could combine it with the 'kitsch' exhibition at the design museum in Gent...

I always amazed and humbled by the beautiful things people create. What great inspiration! And something for me work towards over the next 30 years or so. :)

Hi, just came across your blog... love the Kaffe Fasset exhibition pics, I would love to see those up close. I went to a lecture he gave in New Zealand which must be well over 10 years ago. He admired the colours in my knitted jersey! LOL. I still keep it for that reason alone :)

how cool- you are so lucky. i love the yellow and pink quilt too.
hooray for your generous parents!

Wow! His work has always been an inspiration to me.

Those quilts are beautiful and what a wonderful gift for you to be able to see them. Did you have to wear sunglasses? The colours are brilliant!
