This is me: Amber

September 2006: our house, zucchini in the garden
Zaa3

I'm not really good at keeping a record of my children's development. Simon still has no baby-album. In fact, he doesn't even have one proper photo of himself, because we never print any photos from our digital camera... I haven't been keeping a baby-diary with Simon either. Also most drawings that Amber made through the years have somehow gone missing.
This is why I'm grateful for:

  • this blog
  • Amber's teachers

Amber came home last week with a booklet full of drawings that she made this year. Included were several techniques like folding, tearing, gluing etc.
However, my favourite part were the drawings that she had been making of herself in this schoolyear. Some highlights:

Zaa8
August 2006: Don't you love the bellybutton and nipples that show through her clothes?!

Zaa7
February 2007: I like how she has drawn the little ponytail that she wore that day

Zaa6
March 2007: Look at that pose! Do you see Michel/me and Simon in the background?

Zaa4
August 2006: Summer vacation, spending time with her aunt from England (my sister)

Zaa2
December 2006: Sinterklaas, that creature on the left is a horse!

Zaa1
June 2007: Celebration at school, picture of her on a camel in the rain

Thank you, Amber's teachers, for making this wonderful booklet and for making me feel a little less like a slob!

Check out some more (older) drawings here.

I know what you mean about the digital pictures and not printing them out!!

I love all the drawings, she's really talented! But I especially love the nipples and belly button thing. Cracks me up!

beautiful! Love the belly button, the camel, and the break-dancing she must be doing in the pink shirt! :)

those are awesome!

hey, wait a minute. we're suppose to be making our kids baby books?

Fantastische tekeningen! Leuk om in een ontwerp te verwerken!!

It is lovely to be able to keep all those drawings and they are fab. My youngest brought some of her schoolwork home this evening and it is just wonderful to read all their ideas and stories and see their lovely drawings, just like Amber's. You must be very proud.

That is so neat! You can save it for her. Just lovely!

fantastic work- i love these drawings. thank you for sharing!

that is beyond sweet. and blogging is saving my butt in the childhood chronicling department.

I LOVE children's artwork like this!!! Thanks for sharing!

Your Amber is a real artist!

Great art work!!

I haven't started an album or baby book for my youngest. I am so busy chasing him around that it's hard to get anything else done!! I say enjoy them and don't feel guilty for things you just don't have time to do!!

She's a true artist!

these are great! I love kid artwork...I can't bear to part with any of it.
