Celebratory dinner
Opa and oma picked up the children today for a couple of days of fun.
After a quiet afternoon I cooked an extra special dinner, because we had something to celebrate. No, not that the children are away ;)
But Michel has a wonderful new job!!
He had the interview last week and the same evening they phoned to say that they wanted him to take the job :) All details are sorted now. It will be a fantastic new challenge for him.
And the best thing is that he will work less hours, but he'll be paid more!
So the dinner... it's called "Kip in the hoed", which means "Chicken in the hat" and it was delicious!! Unfortunately, I'm not very good at translating recipes to English, but if anyone's interested then I could give it a try ;))
Man, I'm stuffed!!

that looks delicious - i wonder if it's anything like chicken pot pie? probably not - pot pie has a white sauce...
congrats to you and michel! new jobs are exciting!
and, hey - work less + paid more - can't beat that.

I am trying to remember if I have had this before. It sounds so familiar. I remember small pastry cups filled with a chicken in cream sauce - is that similar? My Oma is a big fan of Stampot (which I hated as a child) and Boerenkool. Congratulations to you and your husband.

okay, i'm going to be a pain and ask for the recipe as it looks good - but to be fair, you can post it in dutch for me and i will get my mum or dad to translate it for me.
congratulations on the job - there's nothing better than having more time for the family - well, there is if you get more money too! hope all goes well.
