In full bloom

After an early dinner we went for some fresh air tonight. Luckily the rain had disappeared and except for the fact that we were wearing our coats, you could almost pretend that it was a summer evening.

Zwh1

We went to the heath in Hilversum, the town we lived in until we moved here almost two years.
We lived very close to the heath and therefore we spent many, many hours there. In the snow and in the sun, pregnant, with baby nr. 1 and then with baby nr. 2.

Zwh3

We dragged everyone along with us onto the heath. The fact that nature is rare in the Netherlands and that we didn't have a garden then made us cherish this place even more.

Zwh2

The good thing was that on the other side of the heath there was a nice restaurant where you can get a lovely cup of tea or coffee. Needless to say that we went there often. And we still go there now and then, since it's only a short drive there.

Zwh7

Today we started at the restaurant and walked onto the heath where all the heather was in full bloom... a splendid sight. We enjoyed the sun and the silence and the children said we were on an adventure (again! two days in a row!). A magical moment was when we came face to face (well, almost ;)) with a deer.

Zwh4

Of course, our walk ended at the restaurant where we had a lovely dessert consisting of chocolate milk and cake.

I love it that the children can stay up a bit later because we don't have to rush anywhere in the morning... holiday bliss!

And Amber lost her fourth tooth today!!

Zwh

There's a big hole where her teeth used to be... it was a bit of a bloody mess when her tooth finally came out, but we're all relieved. The way she looks now is a big improvement on the way she looked earlier in the day, when she was still able to do scary tricks with her dangling tooth... brrrrr.

wat mooi die hei en dat hert. Enne... wat mooi Amber zonder voortanden. Eindelijk, nu wordt je echt groot!
Nog twee nachtjes, en dan.....:)

oh that heather is amazing!!! what great pictures you have!! thanks for sharing them with all of us here in the states! and my daughter could totally gross me out whne her tooth was like that. yuck. and so cute with the toothless grin!

Hey Mirre,
Julian is still doing the scary things with his fourth tooth. I can't wait until it comes out finally.

I know what you mean about summer holidays - being able to stay up later - everything relaxes a little, life moves slower. For us this is especially true in the real heat when it's too hot to move.

Sorry it's raining there though - to be honest we are desperate for rain here and it's the middle of winter :( I do anything for a little of your rain.

Keep relaxing

Beautiful photos - makes me want to visit. Congratulations on the tooth - they look so cute that way. Mine did.

Gorgeous photos! The dear the heather...wonderful. And that tooth...holy schmoly, I know we are headed there shortly.

I love peaceful nature spots to run away to!

What lovely photos of your time outdoors!

Congrats to Amber on lossing her 4th tooth! :) Does the tooth fairy visit at your house?

Wonderful pictures!I like your blog and enjoyed to read it!

Groetjes,Steffi

wow... everything looks so pretty there.

everything here is burnt to a crisp. with a nice side of muggy. gah.

and the teeth? ewwwwwww, i am not looking forward to that happening here.

What a lovely time and place! Thanks for sharing! I enjoy reading each time I visit!

Wat een mooie foto's van de hei! Ik heb net een paar foto's naar de HEMA gebracht om ze te laten uitvergroten en aan de muur te hangen. Idee?

I can see why that is one of your favourite places, it looks wonderful! In Finland we have a lot of nature, you don't have to go far outside the city, but then again there isn't always a nice restaurant just around the corner...

Im dreading that wobbliy hanging tooth thing, I hate teeth, Esmes havent even begun to wobble yet, much to her annoyance and my relief! I love the photos of the heathery heath, so beautiful.

You have a lovely family and your photos are beautiful. Thanks for sharing them.
Heather

How beautiful! You're so lucky to be able to take that walk. I think if I lived there, I might chuck everything and make that walk every day -- especially for the treat at the end! ;-)
