Oilcloth in action
I simply couldn't leave the oilcloth that I bought in Deventer alone.
So after a little frantic sewing the result was this:
and this:
Six tissueholders and three penholders/etuis.
I love these! And I love oilcloth. Before I tried it, I'd never thought that sewing oilcloth would be so doable...
It's just perfect for all kinds of pouches and stuff. It will not get stained or wet, which is a luxury to any mother :)
I can't wait to make other things, for example another organizer like this one:
And I want to try and glue the oilcloth onto wood shapes in order to make decorative pieces for the children's bedrooms. I think oilcloth and I have a long friendship ahead of us!

Wow - these look great. I have to say I love the gnome material - really, really love the gnome material. It's a little too far to Deventer for me though!
My next question is, how hard is it to make tissue holders?
Even though I have a huge list of things to make, I'm sure I could squeeze in a few of those too!
I thought oil cloth would be hard to work with - I guess I should try it.

I love your organizer, the fabrics are so fabulous together and are right up my street at the moment!
The oilcloths are gorgeous too- such great choices.

what fab looking oilcloth and pieces you've made.
I've never really found any oilcloth here (even got a funny look from one fabric shop I asked about it).
Maybe I just need to look harder.

Beautiful things, Mirre. Love the gnome/deer oilcloth. It's fab.
I'm an oilcloth virgin. I think I should venture out.

Your oil cloth projects look wonderful! I love oil cloth, but I'm a bit intimidated about sewing with it. I imagine it would be a bit tricky...
