When men go wild...
The other day we went to a woodcutter's festival in a village near us.
First there was a Jack Russel-race which was great fun since both the kids are terrified of dogs (Michel and I aren't fans either).
Then we watched the chainsaw woodcarving contest. Simon thought the sound of the saws was too loud.
What he did enjoy were the tractors that were parked everywhere.
This was definitely the largest, awesomest tractor we've ever seen:
We also enjoyed watching a demonstration of the fire brigade.
When we cycled back home, we were all pleased with a day well spent.
And it managed to stay dry....
... until we sat down outside to eat our homemade pizza.
That's summer in Holland for you all!

That looks like a fun time. Cute frog :)

Oh, that's so funny about the dogs and the noise. Isn't it always the way? Over the years we've frequented a nearby Agricultural Fair (complete with chickens and sheep and tractor pulls and grilled foods and tiny amusement park rides that are completely overpriced) and have many years rained out. I'm glad you managed to enjoy yourselves though.

Sounds like a fun day out despite the "dangerous" dogs and loud noises!! Wood cutters festival! I'd like to see that!

Hi Mirre,
I came across your weblog yesterday and truly love it. I'm especially fond of your patchwork and other sewing projects. I would love to learn how to do this myself!

Hey Mirre,
My kids hate dogs too - Julian says he wouldn't mind a dog, but only if it doesn't lick, bark or jump on you - I bought him a toy dog :)
Keep hoping for warmth and I will keep hoping for rain here in bone dry Adelaide :(

I agree with Simon. I think chainsaws make terribly loud noises and it hurts my ears.

A well spent day! And as for Summer, my holiday is over and it feels like Summer is too. Though it felt quite good outside today!

Mmm, en ik maar denken dat ik in een minder ontwikkeld deel van het land woon... Tja, jammer van de regen, maar ik ben blij om te zien dat de kikkerparaplu nog in gebruik is!

I was terrified of dogs when I was little and now I absolutely love dogs! :) Although if you & your hubby don't like dogs, maybe it would be bad if your kids grew up to love dogs? :) Sounds like a really interesting time, I have never heard of a woodcutter's festival before.

What a brilliant festival !! The Jack Russel race sounds brilliant. We've got a Jack Russell and they run so fast for such small dogs. My very own woodcutter needs to learn how do do some wood sculptures with his chainsaw. I've seen it on the telly before. They are just so talented.

we have that exact same froggy umbrella. Because it doesn't rain much here, my kids go wild for it when they do actually get to use it.
