Lose the ballast

I've just deleted a whole bunch of feeds from my Bloglines (not yours of course!).
I'm down to 127 feeds now. It feels great... I feel lighter!

Everyday I looked at that ever growing amount of unread posts and it started to give me a real headache. I simply can't keep up, but that irritating voice at the back of my head tells me I have to. I've now decided that I must make things easier for myself.

These coming months will be all about clearing. I'm going to have to say goodbye to a whole lot of my beloved junk. I'm such a hoarder! And so is Michel!! Our house is crammed with stuff. And even though we are attached to everything we've ever collected, we're becoming increasingly aware of the fact that it's making us feel very un-free and suffocated.

Thankfully, the baby is forcing us into action, because we need to make space for him/her. The baby will move into Simon's room, Simon into ours, and Michel and I are moving one floor up. Clearly the attic needs to be junk-free, so that Michel will be able to build a wardrobe and that he will be able to lay laminate there.

My Mum has offered to help me and instead of pretending that I can do it all myself, I've accepted her offer. She coming round this Sunday to make a start and to map out all the things that need to be done. We still have 4,5 months! I'm itching to get started!

that's called nesting!! and you'll be perfectly ready if you start this early...

you'll definitively feel liberated... and you'll have room to collect more stuff!!!

I hope that you manage to declutter! Nesting it definitely appears to be!! My pregnant friend is doing exactly the same at the moment - painting the living room, hall and bedroom and getting new carpets laid! All in preparation for baby in February!

yes, we too are clearing out to make room for the baby....and she's 8 months old!! haha!

I was so glad to see you came by my place!

simplify your life as much as you can and NEVER turn down help!

trust me! with 3 under the age of 4 years, these are my mottos for life!!

I'm a hoarder too! I can't bear to part with anything but I have to.
Goodluck with the de-cluttering. It's never easy asking for help. I hated it, but I also moved house twice while pregnant, once with Julian at 7.5 months and then with Louis at 8.5 months - never, ever again!
It's lovely to have you back - lovely pics too!
Cheers

Oh, how I envy you! I'm still caught in the "must read them all trap" and can't figure out where to cut -- I love them all! ;-)

Gosh, "out with the old, in with the new." I just deleted a bunch from bloglines recently myself. I think I'm just under 100 now. It does feel good.

I know what you mean about clutter.I am trying to sort out all my treasure and either display it, preserve it, or get rid. It's hard though!

Ooh, not so loud! My DH might hear and he would insist that I do the same!

I tried getting rid of a few feeds & just couldn't decide! So instead I decided that I would put together a folder of the ones I absolutely must read, and then if I have a few extra minutes I read the other ones as time allows... I also told myself I was not allowed to add any more new feeds:)

good luck with your declutter! and how sweet of your Mum to offer to help. good for you for accepting that help!!!

I am trying to do that very same thing. I am just moving into a different house after living without most of my worldy posessions for 3.5 months. It was amazing how little I missed most of the stuff. Now I have a bucket for the thrift store in nearly every room of the house. It's just the beginning, but I am looking forward to a lighter load.

My mum and sister helped me go through the kids and my own clothes when they visited, now I have five big bags to take to the fleamarket, it feels so great! Isn't it horrible how much our lives are about materia? Earning money to get to buy stuff and then figuring out how the heck to organise it!
