Shine a light

Today has been dark and dreary.
I'm tired and edgy.

Donker
Painting made by my neighbour

I had plans to get the house organised and somehow it's gotten even messier.
Simon  made pen drawings on the wall and floor (fortunately under my desk).
One of those days...

Nonetheless, there were some (high)lights as well.
At least I got lots of things done: three loads of washing, the shopping, a couple of things sewn, a shop update... and it's not even 16.30 yet!

And NaBloPoMo is done! That last post is definitely not going to get me down... I made it! Hurray for me!

22 weeks

I'm starting to lose sight of my feet... I hope they behave themselves down there!

Belly22weeks

All is well with the pregnancy.
I trust the baby is still growing well and feeling content. According to the sources it's about 30 cms and it weighs about 500 grams.
Physically everything is in place now and it's looking the way a newborn baby looks.
It just needs to get bigger and fatter... like me!

My body is holding up rather well, although I've been experiencing quite a bit of pain in my lower back. Michel keeps telling me to go see a physiotherapist now before the complaints get any worse. I think I will, but I want to discuss it with my obstetrician first and I won't be seeing her until next week.

There's not much happening on the organising/redecorating front right now with all the festivities going on and having our Australian guests over here. I think it won't be until January before we can pick up where we've left behind, but it will definitely be full speed ahead then!

Relax about relaxing

Today Simon let me nap on the sofa for almost two hours without making a sound or disturbing me!
Thank you, you sweet angel... I really needed that nap and apparently you noticed!

Simonbackpack

I'm trying to feel relaxed about taking a time-out now and then. I usually feel guilty or a slack when I'm not cleaning, cooking , sewing...whatever, but lately I've been trying to just let it go and enjoy a bit of peace. My new motto is that I can't do it all and I don't have to.
So I really enjoyed my sleep. And when I woke up the house was only a bit of a mess since all Simon had been doing was reading books.

He's cute, sweet and well-behaved... at least today ;)

Wild card

Tissueholders

Today this whole NaBloPoMo thing doesn't sound like all that much fun anymore.
I'm tired and fed up and really just want to sit on the sofa next to my hubbie with tea and chocolate within reach. But no... I have to blog!

Do you know what? I'm just not going to today... I'm playing the wild card!
See you tomorrow!

Btw, yesterday's post sure was popular ;)

Plush You book

Last week I got a super surprise in the mail:

Plushyoubook

The Plush You book!

And the best thing was that I'm in it!

Plushyoubook1

This book was put together by Kristen Rask, who organises the Plush You exhibitions. I participated last year and that's why I'm in the book together with some of the most wonderful plush makers of the world :) The book also includes sewing tips and patterns.

Plushyoubook2

I think you'll understand that I showed it off to all of my family this week!
If you want it the book can be bought here.

DaWanda

Banner

I was thinking what on earth I should blog about today, when I realised that I never shared my little shop with you. I've had this shop since the beginning of this year, so it's about time that I did!

I'm on a site that's called DaWanda, which simply is the European Etsy.
It's a German site in fact, and although you're able to choose your own language (that is to say English or French), I stuck to German, because I see this as a great exercise to brush up my German.

I expected nothing from this at the beginning, but to my surprise I sold quite a few things up till now. I love playing shop like this... it's so easy and fun! And, importantly, it's a wonderful way to keep my tissueholder-making-addiction under control ;)
The wholesale order also came from this.
There's also this cool feature Style Lab, where you can place your custom order. I'm on there as well with my oilcloth tissueholders.

So go ahead, check out my shop!

NaBloPoMo

A new month! A new beginning!

Zkb2

Quite by chance I read that today National Blog Posting Month began and I reckoned that this would be an excellent way to get back into the blog groove.
It's quite a challenge, I must admit. Especially since I've only written three (3!) posts in October, but I'm going to give it a serious try.
There's enough to catch up on, that's for sure! And if I run out of topics then I can always ask you guys for help, right?!

Who else is in for this challenge?!

Feeling bookish

Is bookish a synonym for tired and edgy?! No? Well, that's how I've been feeling today anyway. Let's just say that I could have been a little more patient with the children... ahum.

However, wonderful things entered our house today, all via my lovely husband.

Zbk
First this book that I've been impatiently waiting for! I know everyone else in the world already owns it and has sewn many lovely things from it, but it's new to me and I love it. Can't wait to get started on some of these projects!

Zbk1
Then this fantastic book that I've also had to wait for for a long time. It's absolutely wonderful... very inspiring. I'll post some photos from it in another post (perhaps when I've finally started a new mosaic project).

Zbk2
Next up this gorgeous children's book. The drawings are so unbelievably wonderful.

Zbk3

Zbk5

Zbk6
Aren't these so beautiful?!

And then there is another children's book that we really like.

Zbk7

It's all about an elephant who thinks he's a cat... funny!

Zbk8

And then there is of course still this book (styling by Simon, by the way :))

Zbk9

I must the slowest HP-reader in the world, because I'm still only on page 224!! Please, tell me there are other people that still haven't finished it?! I think I'm just scared to read on...

Well, those were today's books... who knows what Michel will bring home again tomorrow?!

(Oh, I just have to tell you that Michel managed to break the new mug that I'd bought on Tuesday! Along with this favourite mug... well done, dear! And this afternoon when I got the washing out of the machine my lovely new table runner was all messed up, the colours had started to blend :(
So, no wonder I'm feeling bookish!)

Oh oh and.... tomorrow morning we're going to pick up our new car!! Yay!

Oh and PS, I'll post all the links for the books later (I need to get some sleep now)!!

::200::

I've decided that this 200th is my official housewarming post.
It feels good here on Typepad... I'm staying!

I had plans to host a tea party... set a pretty table and serve some nice food. But I must be realistic... organising it would stress me out and chances are it will never happen.
So I'm afraid you're going to have to bring along your own food and drink... it's what we here call an "American party" ;)

Blogging is still providing me with lots of joy and a great sense of satisfaction. I've been keeping diaries ever since I was able to write, but I think that this is the most regular that I've ever been writing. It makes me proud that I'm keeping it up, although it isn't hard. I love documenting our lives and it's wonderful to know that in this way I'm preserving  memories for myself and the children.

Zpp1

Of course, I also truly love the interaction with anyone who visits here. I'm still amazed that there are people from America, Australia and everywhere else coming here to read about my life. I love comments :)
As a thank-you I would like to give away two packages (*) to two people who leave a comment. I'll draw names on Friday. Lurkers, de-lurk!
Thank you all for making my blog feel like a place where friends can drop in whenever they want!

(*) The first package will contain a lovely handmade (not by me) apron and one of my patchwork pouches, the other will contain the cheery flowery bag and also one of my patchwork pouches. If you prefer one or the other, please say so.
