Dotty skirt

I've been wanting to sew some clothes for the kids for ages, but due to my sewing block it wasn't happening. However, Monday evening I made this skirt for Amber! It took me about 1,5 hours from start to finish, it really is super easy. It's an Ottobre pattern that I modified a little.

Don't you love this fabric? It has a really nice drape to it. I had initially bought it for myself, but my new motto is: use not hoard ;)

The best thing was that Amber was pleasantly surprised with her new skirt. She loves it so much that she is even wearing it two days in a row!

Pour les enfants

For our holiday in France! Not long to go :)

Although I whipped these up quickly, the state of my sewing room is definitely keeping me from creating. I almost gave up on these bags, because I couldn't locate the proper zippers (I have a whole bag of them, somewhere). I made do with whatever I could find and I do think they turned out nicely.

But that room... if only it would magically sort itself out.

Crochet

Something big happened in my life: I finally learned how to crochet!

I'd been wanting to learn it for years, but somehow never got round to it. Until this winter when I hit a rough patch, not just personally, but also creatively. The feeling in me grew that I would be able to shift some of my emotions by learning how to crochet. I missed creating, but sewing was still too far out of my reach.

So one day in early April my mother taught me the basics of crochet and I've been going ever since. At first I only knew how to make a granny square, so that is all I did. Every day. Everywhere. It turned out to be a truly therapeutic pastime for me.

The squares were adding up until I felt I had enough for a blanket. I then put all the squares together and made a little edging. And now my labour of love is cheering up our living room. And I've started and finished several more projects since! I'm so happy with my new healthy obsession :)

First day of summer in the garden

On this first day of summer I had a little stroll in the garden to enjoy all that is growing there. The garden is looking luscious after all the sun and rain that we've had the past weeks.

Name cushion

Fresh new cushions

While shopping at the supermarket this morning two colourful tea towels caught my eye. Without the usual internal dialogue (I don't need them, they aren't cheap etc) I just grapped and paid them.

At home I didn't procrastinate and made three (simple) cushions!!! Wow, it felt good to be so on top of things. And to sew again. I have missed it so.
