I'm not hanging out at the thriftstore an awful lot these day, but today there was a spontaneous quick trip after the children went to school (still weird, but Linus likes it now).
I was selective (good girl!), but I couldn't leave the two German folklore teatowels and the Japanese coasters that I found.
So colourful.
Now what to do with that cute fabric??
I finished Linus' birthday shirt with SIX days to spare! Amazing, isn't it? I love my sewing class where I can steadily work on my projects every week.
I used an Ottobre pattern and the fabric came from the Ottobre Etsy shop. I'd never sewn a polo shirt before and it wasn't particularly difficult, just quite a few bits and pieces. I made two (small) mistakes, which I'm not going to point out ;) I'm thinking of sewing up another shirt, but then without those mistakes. Me, a perfectionist?!
Anyway, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. And I know for sure that Linus will like to wear it on his birthday. Now I just need to finish the trousers that I'm also making for him. They are nearly finished. Will this mean that I will have no last minute stress sewing this time? There must be something wrong with me ;)

After a bit of a rough start he came home full of enthusiasm and cool stories to tell.

I got my hands all sorts of dirty today, covered in soil and flour. Keeping busy doing such basic jobs literally helps me feel grounded. Creating something in whatever shape or way is so purely satisfying. I'm grateful for my drive to create, even though it can feel like a burden sometimes.
So more seeds were sown and more bread was baked. The house is a mess though and let's hope that I have the urge to "create" clean windows soon (gah, what will the neighbours think!) ;)

The preparations for the vegetable garden are moving along nicely. The plot is ready to be used.
I've planted quite a few seeds already, both outside (hope they'll survive) as inside. The first tiny plants have emerged! Life is good when you can get excited by these small things, don't you think?
Spring.

I ordered vegetable seed for the garden and I went and got a truckload of soil at the garden centre. This afternoon I dug my way around the garden (blisters, muscle ache), all for the good cause of homegrown vegetables. This year I will be more successful at growing vegetables! Not a hard feat since last year's harvest was quite pathetic. Hopefully this will be a bad year for the snail...
Did I mention I was happy about spring approaching? So very happy.
Well, there must still be some life in me after all, because today I found myself rearranging some of my treasures. I even wiped a little dust away! Isn't that Villeroy & Boch plate just gorgeous? One of last month's discoveries.
And it was undeniably spring-like outside. That does a body good, too.
Now the weekend ahead of us. Two birthday parties to go to, a baking session tomorrow and hopefully catching up on a lot of sleep. Sounds good to me.
