Summer has started

Hopefully if I state it loudly and boldly enough it will actually happen as well. Come on sun... grill!! Let's bring it on!

At least the children are off school. Summer holiday started at noon today.

Here is Linus sliding into his summer vacation, a yearly tradition for the little ones.

I took the children to the film this afternoon. We saw this film and we ALL enjoyed it. Really nice.

And I started a summer crochet project: a ripple blanket. It will be about 150/200 when it's finished, so I have some way to go :)

A summer evening

Friday evening we went out to celebrate the children's excellent school reports. Tradition is that we go to Weesp to have ice cream.

It was a beautiful sunny evening.

I'm back!

I had a little Typepad trouble, but it's all fixed now :)

Let me get back into the groove by showing you the fantastic princess cake that Michel made for Amber's birthday! It turned out so well and it tasted great too. Plus Amber really liked it... win win win :)

Weekend

Amber had her musical performance on Saturday. It was amazing to see her on stage, I'm sure I was literally beaming with pride.

Today we all took it easy. It was so cold I nearly put on the heating. We enjoyed ourselves with board & iPad games.

And I started a new crochet project, which needs to be finished by the end of the week. Busy week ahead anyway with Amber's birthday marathon, some deadlines and the usual work & children stuff.

An egg!

Big day today: we discovered the first egg!

The clever girl moved both fake eggs into one nest; so cozy!

Luckily we were all home to celebrate this happy occassion.

Who dunnit and will there be another egg tomorrow?

Ottobre Ruska raglan blouse

I made a blouse for Amber using an Ottobre pattern (autumn 2008). It wasn't commissioned by her, so I knew I was taking a bit of a risk by just sewing for it her. The lady is developing her own taste and is known to be quite demanding.

The fabric I used came from my stash. I love it and I've been holding onto it for years. The owl application was Amber's choice, I bought that and a few others in a drugstore the other day.

The blouse came together pretty easy and I'm satisfied with how it turned out.

However, little Miss thinks it's too wide... so I will contemplate whether I will think it will be worth making alterations.

PS I only allowed the uncombed hair because we are on school holiday. And even then... a disgrace ;)
